should passive operating income be lower than the previous year's carry over amount? working on sch E worksheet (G for record), and could not bypass this system logic.

i was asked to input operating loss, but the system seems to set up a control that the Op loss must be lower then the prior year carryloss loss. so strange, did I do anything wrong?

I'm not sure where you are seeing that, but the prior year carryover loss would be combined with the current year operating income or loss to get the current year operating loss. So your current year passive income could be higher or lower than the carryover loss from the previous year.
