Reviewing Schedule A computations

Turbotax says that my deductions total doesn't qualify for itemization but I want to check their computations.  Is there a way to do that?

There are some steps you can take to see the Schedule A Itemized Deductions to know what was reported on that form.  You will not be able to see the details behind each number if you are using TurboTax Online.

First, you would need to force the program to use itemized deductions instead of the standard deduction.  See the instructions below for how to do this.

Then, while your return is using itemized deductions, you can print (or print preview) your Schedule A.  If you are using TurboTax Online, you will be required to pay your TurboTax fee before you can print any forms. 

If you are using the CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use the Forms Mode to see the Schedule A and the calculations behind each number.

Just remember that not all deductions (such as Medical) count at 100%.  And State/Local/Sales/Property taxes are capped at $10,000.
