The 1099-NEC must be connected to a Sch C even if you have no expenses to claim.
Right - but TurboTax says they automatically fill this out when I enter the 1099-NEC income. Is there a way I can access it to fill it out myself, rather than relying on TurboTax to do it (which seems to not be working)?
Follow the screens in the 1099-NEC entry section ... if you do the Sch C will be completed automatically. There is no direct form entry in the online version.
I’ve done that about 5 times now, and still end up with it being flagged at the review....
Delete the 1099-nec and go directly to the Sch C entry then don't use the NEC entry option ... use the next section to enter the income ...
Will this flag anything on the IRS's end since a 1099-NEC was actually sent, but I'm reporting it differently?
Thanks for your willingness to help out. I just decided to start all over, did nothing different except entered information all at once (in one sitting), and it worked fine, including the 1099-NEC. Weird gremlin in the system I guess.
I'm having this same issue. UGH!
I am having the same issue. I deleted the info and re entered the 1099 in but still getting flagged. Has anyone else figured it out a way to fix it?
Is this what everyone else is seeing? Am I supposed to type something in that blank Double click to link to Schedule C box? If so, what? I've tried the nonemployee income from my 1099-NEC but nothing happens.
My friend is also having same problem. We both worked for same person, and mine went thru, but hers is doing the same thing. Tried to delete it all and re add, and still not working.
I ended up having to clear my entire return and start completely over unfortunately. That did the trick for me. Sounds like a TurboTax bug/glitch.
