I just looked at TT again. When entering Charitable giving data TT finally asks if you have given to a Fraternal Order. If you answer NO then you get this line. "This means we'll treat all of your donations, up to 100% AGI, as eligible.
Seems simple and like TT is going to do the right thing. Unfortunately, the IRS considers this little note on the dotted line next to box 11 to be some very special magic and if done wrong the IRS computer restricts you to 60% of AGI. Thats why those of us caught in this want to find someone who knows the magic. The 526 instructions do not really clarify, at least not for me. This is a good one to keep researching if you can because the cause (Giving up to 100%AGI) was a great thing the IRS did.
