Some employers put New Jersey Family Leave Insurance in the wrong box, for example 16 or 17.
To ensure correct calculations, always enter New Jersey Family Leave Insurance in Box 14 , even if your W-2 form shows it in a different box. Simply type NJ FLI TAX as the Box 14 description, then enter the Amount .
On the Let's Review Your Box 14 screen, select NJ FLI tax from the drop-down and continue.
I agree about entering the info in box 14 because it is a worker's contribution to the paid family leave insurance (not income tax withheld) . However, it seems that NJ state has some misleading info about how to file the W2. Take a look at this: https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/pdf/other_forms/git-er/m6025-2019.pdf. Just for your info, that's all. Thank you!
