LLC Partnership Form 1065 Filing

I own an LLC with my wife that was started in 2018. This LLC generated no income but we did have expenses. I'm using the Self-Employed version of TurboTax. Does this version file a Form 1065 for my LLC with the Federal Govt? Or do I need to file that Form separately?

LLC Partnership Form 1065 Filing

No, it does not. The form 1065 can be generated in TurboTax Business. This is where you have to file for a partnership. A multi-member LLC cannot use TurboTax Self-Employed for their business. The IRS considers you a partnership. The Form 1065 was due March 15th.

LLC Partnership Form 1065 Filing

I understand I will need TurboTax business for my LLC to generate Form 1065.  What other TurboTax product should I get to complete my Federal and State returns?

If you use the Online browser version you would need Premier (or the Self Employed version) to enter a K-1 from the 1065.  If you buy the Desktop CD/Download program then any version with work.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms, you just get more help in the higher versions.

And do you know that the separate Turbo Tax Business is only available for Windows?  Not Mac and not Online.
