If I am not licensed and only watch 4 kids how do I file my taxes?

Being licensed or not is irrelevant when it comes to your taxes. So that really doesn't matter.

However, it does matter "where" you provided the daycare. Because you say you provide care for 4 kids, I'm going to assume you did so in your own home. If that assumption is correct, then as far as the IRS is concerned you earned that income while self-employed and "in business" for yourself.

Therefore all of your daycare income and expenses will be reported on SCH C as a physical part of your personal 1040 tax return. It does not matter if you're married and filing a joint return either.

For this, if you are using the online version of TurboTax then you "must" use TurboTax Self-Employed.

If you are using the CD/Desktop version of the program, then you can use TurboTax Deluxe or higher.

For the desktop version, all flavors include the SCH C that you need.

For the only version, only TurboTax Self-Employed includes the SCH C that you need.

Now if you provided daycare in the home of the person(s) who paid you, none of the above applies. Just let us know if this is your case and we'll go from there.
