I suspect the direct deposit 'bounced' and a paper check would be issued
a letter about the Payment will be mailed to each recipient’s last known address within 15 days after the Payment is made. The letter will provide information on how the Payment was made and how to report any failure to receive the Payment.
Thank you for the response. I got the letter yesterday and all it said was how the government was helping. The only phone number on the letter is an all automated line with no live people.
I fear that 1200 was deposited into god knows what account and I will never see that money sadly.
Hopefully in the next few weeks the IRS will begin accepting phone calls again.
If you don't receive the stimulus payment in 2020, you can always receive it as a credit on your 2020 return in 2021. The stimulus is actually an ADVANCE on a credit on your 2020 return.
@GiseleD - but these people NEVER file - that is why they filed as non-filers! Why would TT ask them to refile next year? (as you are designated as an employee, it could be viewed as an attempt to charge more fees! - be careful!) why isn't the advise to contact the IRS when then begin to answer to phones in the next few months?
