I retired but returned to work as Nonemployee. I received a 1099 NEC but I do not own a business and turbo tax is asking for a business number to add to Schedule C.

What number do I need to add if I don't own a business?

Technically, if you returned as an independent contractor, you are now self-employed. Your business number is your Social Security number.

It was actually the Principal Business Activity Code that turbo tax is looking for.  Is that still my social or do I need to pick a code based on the job I was doing?

Principal Business Activity Code is different than your Tax Identification Number (SSN).

You Activity Code is based on the type of work you are doing.
