Thanks, but nothing, in suggestions I have received thus far, have opened the follow-up questions. I appreciate the answers and believe the responder believes his/her answer to be correct, but alas..... They all take me back to the place where I should be able to make the needed changes, but the access options are not presented. Nothing to the issue is evident in the area where the follow-up questions were originally presentedd.
Is it possible that you have already filed your return? If you already filed, you won't be able to make changes. Changes to an already-filed return are handled by filing 1040X. That form won't be ready in TurboTax until later this month. So, if you have already filed, you will need to come back to make changes to your tax-exempt interest.
If you have not filed yet, the directions above will allow you to edit your interest entries. Are you asking about interest on a K-1 or some other form (or a state return) by chance? Please provide some more details regarding your interest, the steps you have already taken, and the changes you are wanting to make. What follow-up question are you looking for? We would love to help; thanks!
I responded last week, but your mailbox was full and couldn't receive my mail. In fairness it was late Friday afternoon.
These Exempt Interest receipts were from Municipal Bonds. Individual states often partner with others so that MUNI Bond interest is not taxable to taxpayers of partnering states, but alas this is not universal, so a filer must report which bond interest was paid from within partnering states. The balance is taxable. The questions asked to provide thin info are presented within the Exempt Interest section of 1099-DIV. Once answered, the disappear from the field of view. Why these are asked at this point in the Federal Return, I don't know. I need to edit my answers, so I have to be able to re-open the questions or to be assured I will have opportunity in the State Return to edit them there.
Thanks for your continued efforts on my behalf.
Brent
