If you will be mailing the federal tax return instead of e-filing the return, the 6 digit IP PIN has to be written in ink on page 2 of the Form 1040 located in the Signature/Date section.
I have been filing for years electronically. Do I assume that the pins are automatically sent to the IRS from my info wks sheet? I looked at my filings from several years back and I never noticed the pins were not on the 1040 then either but IRS was happy.

Yes, the IP PIN that you entered in the TurboTax program is also sent electronically with the e-filed tax return.
The IP PIN is not transferred to the Form 1040 in the PDF of your forms, schedules list for security purposes.
Thanks for the help. TurboTax should make it clear that that is the case. I have used them for a long time and one little thing can cause much consternation.
On my INT paid for a home loan, TT asked if I paid real estate taxes. Well, I do. When the tax collector sends me a bill, I pay it.
TT meant to say "do you pay into escrow with your bank money for real estate taxes" which I don't do but some people do.
I don't know how to give them feedback but maybe you can.
Once again. Thanks.
