To edit vehicle expenses associated with your rental property (Schedule E):
- Continue working on your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
- Click Tax Tools (lower left side of your screen).
- Select Tools.
- In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
- In the I'm looking for: box, type sch e.
- In the results bar, highlight sch e, rentals, then click GO.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to continue through the first few screens. When you get to the Rent and Royalty Summary, click Edit to the far right of the rental property you need to edit. (Click the first screenshot below for reference.)
- Now you can Review Your Rental Summary. Scroll down and click Update for Vehicle Expenses. (Click the second screenshot below.)
- Follow the onscreen instructions to update your vehicle information.
Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function and the "Jump to" link (instead of "Tax Tools") to search for the topic.
