Home office deduction

I am entering my home office deduction on the worksheet. I've done this every year and have not had any problems. This time I'm using the simplified method and it won't accept my square footage. It keeps telling me that I need to enter 300 or the lesser square footage. Neither seems to satisfy it. Any input?

Are you talking about the Simplified Method Smart Worksheet between lines 2 and 3 of Form 8829?

Did you check the Yes box for "Do you elect to use the simplified method in 2024?"

What are you entering on lines B and C? You should not have to enter anything on line C. TurboTax will fill in line C after you enter the actual square footage on line B.

How do you know that it is not "satisfied"? If you are getting an error message, what is the entire exact message, word for word?

It would probably be easier to enter your home office expenses using the Step-by-Step interview instead of in forms mode.

Thanks for your input. I do use the step by step but often click over to see where there is an error as annotated by a "not finished" on the list of forms.

I'll check to see what I have included and see if that corrects it.
