I have been operating as a sole proprietor for a long time now under a DBA that has an EIN. I just registered the business as an LLC. Do I need a new EIN for the LLC. The company name is the same except for the LLC on the end now.

You will not be required to obtain a new EIN if the following is true:

If you have employees, you must have an EIN.
You can get an EIN on the IRS web site for free in about 15 minutes even if you aren't required to have one, and this saves you from having to give your personal SSN to clients and vendors.
Since the name of the business did not change, and you only added "LLC" to it, you do not need a new EIN. The absolute only thing that will change on your tax return for the business, is the addition of "LLC" to the business name, and that's it.

That is actually an incorrect statement; a new EIN does not need to be obtained if only the name of the business is changed.
You will not be required to obtain a new EIN if any of the following statements are true.
