My son is a minor who needs to file his own tax return because he made over $16800 in 2024. I can still on my tax return claim him as a dependent. My question is can he e-file his tax return being it is his first time e- filing without being rejected because he has no previous AGI to put on the return? Will the IRS accept the tax return with no previous AGI? He has no pin number either being this is his first time e-filing a tax return.

You say he is a "minor" but did not tell us how old he is. If he is under 16 as of end of 2024, he cannot e-file. He can file by mail if necessary. His 2023 AGI will be zero.
in november of 2024 he was 16
The child cannot e-file their first tax return if they are under the age of 16. They would have to print and mail the tax return. If done online, your son needs his own account, because only one person's (or joint) return can be done in an online account. The e-mail can be the same as yours. He uses zero for prior year agi
Then he can try to e-file. If it rejects, then file it by mail.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
but if puts in 0 AGI on his tax return, will it be rejected because they have no previous AGI to prove his proof of identity
Again----use zero. The use of zero for AGI is a tactic that often works if there is not an AGI to enter from the past year. If zero does not work, then just file it by mail.
do you mean use 0 or type in zero?
