Deducting liability insurance as an employee dentist

My husband receives a W2 for his moonlighting job. He had to get liability insurance for this job. Can I write this off?

Yes, he can deduct his employee liability insurance as job-related expense. Since it is for his W2 position, the data entry is in Deductions and Credits:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions & Credits (you may have to select See all tax breaks)
  3. Employment Expenses
  4. Job-related expenses (or Job-Expenses for W-2 Income)

Expenses to learn a new trade or job are not tax deductible, unfortunately.  He can deduct the fee if it was paid to improve, keep his job skill.
