On my CSA 1099R block 5. says "NONE" and block 9b. says 2871.00. In Turbotax since they require a number in block 5 I input - 0.00 and block 9b. - 2871.00. The problem is when I went to the "Forms in my Return" tab and selected the CSA 1099R form, both inputs in blocks 5. and 9b. were reversed. Block 5. - 2871.00, Block 9b. - 0.00. When I manually changed the numbers in the "Forms" tab to reflect the initial number inputs in the step-by-step. I found that they had reversed my inputs. Blk. 5 - 2871.00, Blk. 9b. -0.00. For the question: How much of block 5 was used ... I entered 0.00. Is this an input problem on my part? a problem with the software? or an incorrect entry on my CSA 1099R. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

The desired result is to figure out how much of your contributions to the retirement plan should be taxable. It is determined by using your contributions (after tax, meaning you paid tax on the amount you contributed to the plan while you were working) along with your estimated life and payment amounts. TurboTax will figure that out for you, but you must know if you used any of those contributions on prior tax returns. If this is the first year you received a distribution of your retirement then you would not have used any of your contributions in the past.
The amounts in your CSA-1099R are as follows:
It is not necessarily an incorrect entry on your form and since both boxes are labeled employee contributions it shouldn't make a difference to your tax return as long as you answer all the questions about this form in TurboTax. The following links may be helpful.
If you have more questions please be sure to provide the code in box 7.
Hi Diane, I appreciate your quick response and explanation! I checked my CSA 1099R from TY 2021 and boxes 5. and 9b. were the same as 2022 (box 5: NONE, box 9b.: 2871.00). I haven't used any of the contributions. I agree with you in ensuring that the questions in the TT interview were answered correctly even though the numbers were reversed in the "Forms " tab. Like you mentioned, It didn't make a difference in the outcome of the return. Once again, thanks for your help.
