Hello,
I received $5250 in tuition reimbursement from my employer. I paid $6800 in tuition, so I paid 6800-5250=1550 out of pocket.
Since I paid $1550 out of pocket, can I claim the lifetime learning credit on that $1550? Would I just put $1550 when it asks how much I paid in educational expenses?
Thank you!

Hi jflipper360
This is an awesome question. Based upon the given info, education credits will be based upon the information you input on turbo tax regarding your student dependent. The Lifetime Learning Credit is for anyone subject to income limits and a few other requirements. Our turbo tax system is designed to determine what is the best education credit you will receive. I have include some IRS information with this reply. Hopefully this sufficient for you as you complete your tax return. https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-publication-970
