attorney fired from firm but has expenses closing cases

An attorney was fired from a law firm but was required to finish the work on a few cases he had started.  Can he deduct his expenses on a schedule C even though there is no income.  Took about six weeks to close the cases.

No. A business is an activity carried on for the production of income. Sounds like that is not your situation.
