1040 SE & Social Security

Hello,

I am self employed and file a Schedule-C. I also file 1040 SE for self employment taxes.

My understanding is that my Social Security earnings are derived from 1040 SE.

I do not know how it is reported

SSA wants me to confirm my earnings yearly but I do not know how since my 1040 SE & SSA $$ do not match at all.

Can you please guide me on how to do this?

Thank you.

The amount in line 6 of 1040 SE is the earnings used for calculating your social security benefits from self employment..

This is the number you will see in the SSA earning statement.

You can visit the Schedule SE section in TurboTax by:

  1. Open (continue) your return if it isn’t already open.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for sch SE and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
