With TurboTax (with very few exceptions) it's critical to complete the non-resident state tax return before you do your home state tax return.
That's because your home state will normally grant you a credit for all or some of the taxes paid to the non-resident state. The program cannot calculate that credit unless you complete the non-resident state tax return first.
If you completed your state returns in the wrong sequence, it's likely that both are incorrect. (The program may have incorrectly granted you a credit on your NY return for the taxes you paid to MD.)
