a penalty tax is an additional tax on top of your regular tax.
Always print a copy of your completed tax return for your records, and review it carefully before e-Filing.
You will need it if you are audited by the IRS, or to amend if a TurboTax update changes your return or for any other reason,
AND, to find your AGI next year.
Thanks for quick response but I don't think I asked correctly what I am looking for. I made a little over $30k in interest but because how fast CD rates have risen I closed a couple CDs early and have an early withdrawal penalty of $,6875 showing on the 1099-INT. So total income is now $23,125 which would be my MAGI to use for figuring my Premium Tax credit. Works on other tax programs to increase the amount of Premium I get but not on Turbo tax? Is there a place to put MAGI?
Thanks
You are correct. The definition of modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is shown below.
Review your entries and then also use Preview My 1040 to view the adjusted gross income.
Using the Tax Tools: To find Tools:
For TurboTax CD/Download simply click Forms in the upper right.
The figure used to determine eligibility for premium tax credits and other savings for Marketplace health insurance plans and for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). MAGI is adjusted gross income (AGI) plus these, if any: untaxed foreign income, non-taxable Social Security benefits, and tax-exempt interest.

I looked at that and it does show the early withdrawal penalty, $6,875 being subtracted from my income of $30053. So AGI is $23,196, I have $1,799 in tax free interest and I know I have to add that to AGI to get MAGI. But I don't see anyway to do this without that $1,799 becoming taxable income?
Edit: Ooops I see what happened, I entered that $1,779 of tax free interest as $17,779 now I see getting back the same $46 in Premium Tax Credit that others show. So your software does use that MAGI for determining Credit.
Thanks for trying to help though
