Why wasn't my state taxes filed?

Until your federal return has been processed and accepted, your state return will show as incomplete.  Once your federal return has been accepted, your state return will show as processing and then accepted or rejected by your state.

If your state return is still showing as incomplete after your federal return has been accepted, you may not have submitted your state return.  This can happen if some of your state forms were not finalized when you tried to efile your state at the same time as efiling your Federal return.

If you find you do need to resubmit your state taxes, you may do the following:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Online
  2. Find My TurboTax
  3. From the drop-down menu, select My Tax Timeline
  4. Scroll down to "SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO"
  5. Click Add a state under your 2016 tax return

This will allow you back in to the program. Review and complete your state portion in the program. Then, go to the File tab to choose a filing option.
