I’m trying to get some information about why my tax refund amount got “adjusted” down by $1,200?
Upon checking the status I saw a note letting me know about the adjustment. It provided five possible causes for the adjustment. Three of the five involved a dependent which is not the case here as there is no dependent. The fourth cause- I don’t make that much. The fifth reason was something about the amount being “computed incorrectly”.
Care to expand on that a bit for the class? Since the support line is impossible to get through.

Sounds like you claimed on your return a $1,200 stimulus payment which the IRS had already sent you.
A common adjustment is if you claimed the Recovery rebate credit on 1040 line 30 when you already got the Stimulus payment or got the second one after you filed or reported the wrong amounts. Do you have an amount on line 30?
Did you already get the full first and second Stimulus payments? You had to enter the right amounts you got in the right 2 boxes. If you entered the total for both in one box then it would give you the other round again.
you should also be getting a notice from the IRS explaining the change. the error in the stimulus payment is a likely suspect.
