Why is my federal return still being processed?

I e-filed my return without issue on March 30th.  I was entitled to a refund.   It is still being processed and it has gone twice as long as the expected 21 day maximum.   The IRS hotline is not working now, and every day, the "where is my refund" app just says "still being processed - a refund date will be provided when available."

I have been filing my taxes for decades and never had a delay such as this.  And it's a refund I need right now.   Please advise - thx y'all.

Unfortunately TurboTax gets no information about the status of your refund.
In normal times, the IRS says that most filers get their refunds within 21 days from the time their tax return is accepted.
Many returns are taking longer now since the IRS did not process returns for a while and there is now a big backlog of unprocessed returns.
The IRS is currently not processing any mailed returns and is not taking any phone calls.

If you efiled your return, have you confirmed that the return was submitted by TurboTax and accepted by the IRS?

Hi Roger - thanks for responding. 

Of course I received the confirmation from Turbotax that my return was accepted 🙂  In fact, I received my state refund a week after I filed!  I know they're overwhelmed right now, but I e-filed my return, not mailed in a paper return, and this is unprecedented (I know we're in unprecedented times).
