Why is it taking so long its been 21 days?

Has it been 21 days since you filed or 21 days since your return was accepted by the IRS? 

• The IRS releases most refunds within 21 calendar days after the e-file has been accepted. 

• Sometimes, your federal refund can take longer than 21 days to process. (See the FAQ below for reasons why this may occur).

Note: An IRS representatives will be able to research the status of your refund if your return was accepted (received) more than 21 calendar days ago. Call them at 1-800-829-1040.
