I filed my taxes in the beginning of April. My tax return says ready to mail, but nothing else. Is there a step I’m missing?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you chose to mail your return rather than efile it, you must print and mail it yourself. TurboTax will not print and mail it for you. It will always say Ready to Mail even if you did print and mail it yourself because TurboTax has no way to know whether you mailed it or not.
If you still need to mail it, use the filing instructions sheet that prints with your return for what to include with the mailing and where to mail it.
Mailed returns have not been processed by the IRS for many weeks. It is not known how soon they will begin processing them and be able to catch up with the backlog of unprocessed returns.
You can track the status of your refund after they begin processing your return using the IRS tracking link:

Then Did you actually print and mail it?
Sorry but Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to actually print out your tax return and mail it to the IRS or state yourself. So it has not been filed yet. And it will always say Ready to Mail. Turbo Tax doesn’t know if or when you mailed it and the IRS doesn’t update Turbo Tax when they get your mailed return. You can try to switch to efile. Click on Add a State to let you back into your retun.
Or if you want to mail a return from the Online version
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.
4 weeks after mailing you can start checking IRS Where's my refund
