Why haven't I received my stimulus check yet and my taxes are still pending

I suspect that until the 2019 tax return is processed, the stimulus payment will be held up.. that appears to bethe case from many other posts

You have 2 separate issues although if you did not file a 2018 return then the stimulus may not be released until the 2019 return is processed.  And right not the IRS is not processing very fast due to the reduced staffing.  

Pending: 

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.

E-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 24–48 hours before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected. Sometimes state returns stay in Pending for several days or even longer.
