Question

Why does the "Amend using TurboTax Online" button for a 2024 return not do anything? Is it broken?

I am trying to complete a 1099-X that I started on TurboTax Online using the "Amend using TurboTax Online" button for my 2024 TY, but the button doesn't do anything anymore. It used to bring me to my 1099-X workflow. Is it broken?

You cannot amend a 2024 tax return using the current version of TurboTax Online.  The online editions were updated in October for tax year 2025 and cannot be changed.

To amend a 2024 tax return that you started online, you will need to download the 2024 tax data file.  Then you will need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer, Windows or Mac, one of the 2024 desktop editions.  Once installed you need to open the 2024 tax data file you downloaded.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file

A 2024 amended tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.

That's strange, because it definitely worked in late-January/early-February when I worked on amending my 2024 return using Turbotax Online, long after the October update.

Well, contrary to what PatriciaV said, the "Amend Online" functionality appears to have been fixed (for now?) and I was able to finalize my amendment, file and pay online.
