Why does my state return say amended when I haven't filed yet?

Turbo Tax says I have already filed but I have not. How do I verify filing status?

Are you sure you are in your 2024 tax return? Where are you seeing it say amended?

Yes it is for 2024. The consent and disclosure statement, prior to signature, states it is an amended return.

You might have selected yes when asked if you are amending this return. You may need to clear and start over.

As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.

1. Sign in and select a topic to continue your return.
2. On the next screen, from the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
3. Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.

This is happening to myself and another user too (see this post). I'm confident I'm working on my 2024 return and that I haven't accidentally started an amended return. I've paid for TurboTax Plus but haven't e-filed yet because of this confusion.

Are you seeing the Amended info after you have paid, but prior to filing?  If so, please let us know and we'll try to help you further.
