Why can't I get a refund even though I am a non-resident and didn't see any prior disclaimer about that?

Products bought online have no refunds but I believe I am entitled one. TurboTax doesn't state on its homepage that it doesn't do Nonresident tax returns and not until I paid and reviewed my tax return did I realize that. I thought I missed an option and went back to review my form. When I didn't find any option, I googled it and this is when I saw some of the answers on TurboTax blog. Of course by that time it was too late for a refund.

I think this is very misleading and unfair!!! This kind of information should be on your homepage (or at least a link to your partners sprintax)

1040NRs are not all that common. TurboTax Online has lists of which forms it will prepare that you can access before you start filing; I'm pretty sure the 1040NR isn't on any of them.

To get a phone number to contact Intuit about a possible refund, see https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3300041 . Please keep trying till you get a standard U.S. area code & phone number (*not* 800 or other toll-free number).

"Non-resident" returns are most commonly a state issue. If so, which state? Or are you trying to file a 1040NR?

@RBBrittain Thanks for the quick reply! I appreciate that! I was trying to file a 1040NR, yes!

@RBBrittain thanks again! You are correct, I found the commonly used forms here <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/irs-forms/">https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/ir...> and the NR is not there as you said, but I found that link again by googling it. I have no idea how to get to that link from the homepage.

I am also trying to get a phone call from a US number but so far no luck. They are all 800 numbers.

Thank you for taking the time to answer back!

I reported your situation to the mods hoping for a better answer. They tell me they don't have a non-800 number, but they did suggest contacting them via Facebook or Twitter. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. :(

@RBBrittain thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate it. Yesterday actually I called again and got a call back from an 800 number and the issue was resolved.

Again thank you very much! I have to say that you guys do a great job. Thanks again for all the help.
