My federal taxes were filed and accepted February 5, and I still do not have my refund. TurboTax says the return was accepted and received February 22. When I go to the IRS tool, it says that my federal return is complete but i still do not have the funds. Who call I call or where can I go to figure out what’s going on?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS. 

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund?

Your tax refund was not sent to TurboTax.   TurboTax does not handle your refund at all.

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

Does the IRS website indicate the tax refund was Approved then Issued/Sent?  If not, it is still be processed.

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Does the IRS say your refund was sent yet? "Complete" means they are done doing various computer matching and fraud checks. 

When they are completely done, your refund is sent, which means your deposit is sent to your bank or your check is printed and mailed out.
