TT does not know when your refund is Approved, so cannot tell you that. It sends you an email when the IRS has Accepted (received) your efile for processing. Approved is a later step. Some users have been waiting since January.

Is it normal to still be waiting for my return since April? No confirmation email from theIRS either. The status on the IRS webpage states they have no information for me
TurboTax did not say your refund was "approved." TurboTax can only tell you that your e-file was "accepted" which is not the same as "approved." And many returns are taking longer than normal to be processed.
