Where do I a mail my state taxes to and also how do I track that they have actually been received and filed?

Hi, I am not able to e-file my taxes for some reason so I am having to mail them out. The instructions that print out with the taxes do not specify where I should be mailing my state taxes. Can you please let me know where I mail Idaho taxes to?

Also, aside from me sending these packages certified, is there a way to track that the IRS and the state of Idaho have actually received my taxes?

You can get the Idaho income tax return address here https://tax.idaho.gov/i-1015.cfm and when you mail a return to your state, you have to track it using their website tracker. You will need to allow at least 4 weeks for it to hit their system after mailing it. You can choose your state here https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433 and it will provide you instructions on how to check the status of your state return on your state's website. Address below as well, just incase you have issue opening their site at link above.

Idaho State Tax Commission
PO Box 56
Boise ID 83756-0056

Also if you mailed your federal return and are expecting a refund you can start checking the status of your return on the IRS website Where's My Refund 4 weeks after mailing your return. It takes that amount of time for it to show up in their system, sometimes a bit longer if they are backed up. You can use that same IRS site to track it if you e-filed the federal as well.

You only want to call them if it’s been at least 6 weeks since you mailed and at that time, you can reach them at the IRS tax refund hotline at 800-829-4477, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Or, call the 24-hour assistance number at 800-829-1040
