Last week the IRS came out and said that they'd be accepting amended tax returns via e-file (HALLELUJAH!), but I haven't been able to find any information as to HOW exactly an individual can go about submitting it? I messed up our rental income and now we can't buy a house because our debt to income ratio is inaccurate - our return was originally filed/accepted by the IRS through TurboTax. When will you guys have the software capability to amend electronically? This week? Next week? Next month?

TurboTax has not yet provided a date when e-filing of amended returns will be available, but they are working on it.
Note that the IRS web site says that even if an amended return is e-filed, it will still take 16 weeks to process it.
How do you know they are working on it? Have they said? Wondering if it would make more sense to buy the software and/or hire someone to file it for us, or simply wait for TurboTax.
One of the forum moderators said "The team is working vigorously towards getting this launched. We still do not have an actual launch date." He hopes to have more information soon.
as of now only pro software allows e-filing amended returns. you could hire a pro but consider what it would cost.
Due to the processing delays on amended returns the mortgage company will probably accept a paper copy of the return you will be filing.
TurboTax has now said that e-filing of 2019 amended returns will be available in TurboTax by the end of this week.
Can you link where you found that?! Wondering if that’s for individuals or only for tax professionals

It specifically says "in TurboTax." TurboTax is only for individuals, not for tax professionals.
A tax professional should be using a professional program so they should ask the program administrators when they will be able to efile it ... I use DRAKE and it was ready 2 weeks ago.
