I somehow made my state return an amended one and it's not suppose to be . How can I fix it.

The steps in my answer are specific to Kansas.

To remove the state amended return you will have to go back through your state interview and "unselect" the amended return.  Please follow these steps:

1. Sign back in to your return and click on the State Taxes tab.
2. Click on the Edit box next to your state return.
3. On the screen Let's Review Your Amended Return click on the I'll choose what I work on link.  [See Screenshot #1, below.]
4. On the next screen, Your 2016 Kansas taxes are ready for us to check, click on the Edit box next to Other Situations.  [Screenshot #2]
5. On the screen, A few things before we wrap up your state taxes, click on the Start/Revisit box next to Amended Return (Form K40).  [Screenshot #3]
   
6. On the Amended Return (Form K 40) screen, mark the radio button next to to I don't want to amend my return and click Continue.  (Screenshot #3)  The "amended" mark will be removed from your return.
7. This will take you back to the A few things... screen.  Click on Done with other tax situations. 
   

You should now be able to file your state return.
