I receieved letter from irs letter 4883c . verify identity. i called and all went good. now they say up to 9 weeks before i get return ?

@iswekowa Thank you! And yup, verified on 2-6-17, got my refund today (2-15-17). From what I've read, the 9 weeks is more of a possibility than a probability. I would say my case was certainly a rare one though, or at the very least unlikely. But I would also venture to say, 3 weeks is much more likely than 9 weeks, but I'm no tax expert. Good luck to you, at any rate. Hopefully you see some movement by the end of this week.

Thanks oreamnos2007, I will keep everyone posted. This is a hot topic this year, it seems they are flagging 10x more people this year since they did away with the PIN this year! I am on several forums and it is unbelievable how many are getting it this year for no reason. At least you have given me some hope. Some people have posted it took them until OCTOBER to finally get their refund last year after ID verify. That's crazy

Filed january 24th. Accepted 25th . Letter and called in February 1 Wednesday.  Refund on Wednesday 15th . To be exact . You will be fine . But I was upset . You will see soon great news .

What questions m they ask?

They asked for your mother & fathers names (maiden) last years agi & federal tax amount. This years amount, name of employer on last years form & of course your social, address & dob

Oh & the routing & bank account number your taxes will be deposited to

Last year, I verified and kept checking WMR for a week like some of us.  And when I didn't see a refund by the weekend, I called back.  And I was told that the previous operator did not completely closed out my verification and submitted for processing.  Therefore I had to verify again.  And my refund was approved by that saturday.
