What does your e-file status show online e-file status lookup tool, (if you are e-filing). If you are mailing in a paper return, and have not yet mailed it out yet, then you have not filed.
When you e-file you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your e-file.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?
If it has in fact not been filed, open your return and go through the File section again. Make sure you select the Transmit my returns now button. You must select that button to electronically send your return to the government.
Once you've done that, the next thing you should see is a Transmission Successful screen. This means your return is on its way to the government agency.
We recommend waiting 24-48 hours before checking your status again.
