Two W2 forms from same employer, made mistake filing
I received two W2 forms from my former employer. Both had listed different totals for total wages. I used the W2 with the higher amount on my tax returned and e filed. But now I realized I made a mistake and when adding both together, I get my total income made for the year. My return is pending and now I want to know if the IRS will catch this and reject my return, or will it accept it? I would prefer it would be rejected or corrected since then I could fix it without filing an amended return. I am getting a refund, so will I have to file an amended return? And if I do, should I wait until I get my refund first? Once adding the income I forgot to add to the W2, will it lower my refund amount and will I owe money to the IRS if I have to file an amended return?
