When I select save as pdf or print a small window on TT pops up and says "completing calculations" this is where the bug is. Clicking "save as pdf or print" does not require any calculation by the program yet that's what it's doing.
Add me to the list of people with this issue. Mac OS desktop. I tried to print forms from the "Forms View" and all it does is think about it, then dings, and returns to the Forms View. Nothing downloads and the printer is never contacted. It is as if the forms just disappear into the ether. All through the "thinking about it" process, my status bar shows TurboTax as "not responding". Something is definitely wrong, given the number of people having this issue. It needs to get fixed ASAP.
When you are in Turbo Tax, click on the tab "Save for your Records".
Ignore "Print Returns".
Go to your desktop, and click File at the top left.
Find "Save to PDF".
Choose a place to save your pdf, for example, your Desktop.
Go to your desktop and find the name of the file you just saved.
Open it, and it should open in acrobat reader and your forms should appear.
Find your print icon and print.
I'm having the same issue with printing on my IMAC. I can print anything else to my HP including Turbo Tax 2023, but not 2024. Is somebody working on this? I also cannot find a phone number to call anyone....
Hi again...
The following is for MacOS users. If you're a windows user, sorry. Windows does not have a native pdf app that is similar to Mac's Preview. As an aside, I actually patched 15 minutes ago and TT allowed me to save to pdf without having to use preview. My problem was always with New York, which was not patched today.
For Mac users who may be unfamiliar with Preview, here are the steps to save yourself time and frustration. If I had noticed Preview in the menu originally, I would have used it. But, I was not seeking to print, so I didn't look that far down the menu.
I have tested this on a new MBP and an older Mac Mini. They are all running the current MacOS. I use Preview all the time and it has not failed me yet. From Preview, I can export to pdf, save as pdf or print. Those are all the things that everyone wants from TT.
Step 1: Use Preview
When you select Preview, you will see all the returns. Pick one or all. Then, a small pop-up window will appear. Click the 3rd icon from the left. While the last icon should be download, nothing downloaded.
Once you click the icon, a locked pdf file will open. Just duplicate it or save it and the resulting pdf file will be unlocked. If your goal was to save the return, you're done. If your goal is to print, you can print.
Bonne chance!
Same problem with 2024 TurboTax not printing while everything else prints. Mine won’t download/save to pdf either. So I don’t even have this workaround. Every tax season, there’s some glitch. Unbelievably frustrating!
This worked for me, thanks for finding a work around.
EM99 -- and anybody else who's still having trouble printing ...
I recommend you first try this simple workaround, which was posted by bpayseno and others:
By bpayseno:
Work-around until Intuit fixes the print function.
1) Use the "Save to PDF" option in the "File" menu of the desktop program and save a copy of your returns to location you can easily find on your computer.
2) Open the PDF of your returns in your PDF reader program (acrobat, Preview, etc.) and use that program to print to your local printer.
^ That solution seems to work for most people now.
But if that doesn't work for you, then try this more cumbersome workaround, which I posted several weeks ago, and which mcotrona illustrated in a few posts above this one:

Here's how I eventually got my 2024 Tax Return to print (Mac Desktop with TurboTax Desktop Version, HP printer)...
1) With TurboTax open on my desktop and on the Save For Your Records tab ...
2) I clicked on "File" from the TurboTax menu in the top menu bar ...
3) Then I chose "Preview" at the bottom of the "File" dropdown menu ...
4) Upon doing that, a new Preview window opened up.
5) Ensure that "2024 Federal Tax Return" is checked on the left hand side of the new window.
6) Choose which 2024 Tax Return forms you'd like to print. (I stuck with the default labeled "Recommended forms & worksheets."
7) Click on the blue "Preview" button in the lower right of that same window.
8.Another new window will open up -- this one, at least on my computer, is a very tiny version of my entire 2024 Federal Tax Return.
9) Put your cursor over the tiny preview window (ie, over your mini-tax return). A small 4-item menu will appear (if it's not already there).
10) Click on the little icon to the left of the download arrow. (The download arrow on the far right of that 4-item menu did not function properly for me. It would not download the preview.) The icon you should click on looks like an ink bottle in front of a square piece of paper.
11) Now, a new window will open up in the "Preview" app. In my case, the new document that opened up had a strange document name with six letters and numbers followed by "-Unknown.pdf." I changed the document's name to my own choosing prior to taking the next step so that I could find my file after I saved it.
12) Now, from the Preview menu in the top menu bar, Click on "File."
13) Click on "Print" at the bottom of that "File" menu.
14) You will now be able to Save your TurboTax return as a PDF ... and/or ... you will be able to Print your TurboTax return.
15) Phew. That's a lot of work, TurboTax! You need to do better.
**Please say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in my post.
Dude, thank you for this workaround in Preview. I was screaming mad but you saved me.
TurboTax, fix yo **bleep** glitch.
You're welcome. TurboTax is apparently ignoring this issue. That's hard to understand. But at least one of these 2 workarounds (in my post above) seems to work for everybody (except for those whose setups are advertised as NOT compatible with TurboTax, which is kind of 'fair enough').
Just go to >File>SaveToPDF... in the TurboTax Menu on your Mac!
Ph_D,
believe it or not, that doesn’t work for everybody — though it should.

Your 2024 TurboTax Home and business will not allow printing
I’m having the same issue with TurboTax 2024 on my Mac.
won’t print
won’t save to pdf
does not complete the full calculation bar.
just breaks oft10% through the bar.
seems to me it’s a software issue…
HELP !
Hi, Piv.
Can you see my post a few posts above your own? One of those 2 methods seems to work for almost everybody. Give them both a try, in the order I listed (least convoluted one first), and then please let me know if one of them worked for you.
Best of luck!
