You can check your e-file status to make sure your tax return was transmitted and if it was either accepted or rejected. If it shows accepted, then yes that means it passed the initial inspection and the IRS has it for processing. Please see My return got accepted. What happens next?
Maybe I wasn't clear in my question. When I go to IRS check on e-file status it doesn't have me at all so I'm trying to find out how Turbo Tax can say congratulations The IRS has accepted your return ,when I go to IRS it says I'm not in their e-file system. So what is going on Turbo Tax said I was done filed. And accepted by IRS and they have nothing in system to check..??? I'm upset this was suppose to make my filing taxes faster and my refund back to me faster.Im disappointed in that I see this has no real answer except wait three weeks ..Too bad paying for all the perks and totally left hanging. I'm more upset the Turbo Tax says IRS has accepted my taxes when it's obvious that wasn't so.
Sorry the IRS website is not always updated. If Turbo Tax shows it was accepted then the IRS has it and is working on it. The IRS is taking a very long time this year like 6 months or more. You might have a long wait. Be patient and keep waiting.
Accepted does not mean Approved.
Accepted only means the IRS verified some basic info on it so they know it's really from you. After it is Accepted the IRS processes it then approves it before they send the refund.
After Turbo Tax sends your return they are done with their part. Now it's up to the IRS to process and Approve it. It has nothing to do with Turbo Tax. The IRS doesn't update Turbo Tax with the status of your return. Turbo Tax just gives you an estimated date.
What does Accepted mean

If your return was ACCEPTED, you will get an ACCEPTED message.
The IRS status page then shows your e-File usually within 3 days.
It may take longer.
If your e-Filed return was correct and you expect a direct deposit refund, you should get it within two weeks.
If there was an issue or error, it will take much longer.
If you are not expecting a refund, you can't track your tax return.
Also, here are some tips when using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:
You can also try phoning the IRS refund hotline. I've seen it work for some users when the WMR tool didn't. 800-829-1954
Wow I feel like I'm in some black hole and no one is hearing me..TURBO TAX SENT EMAIL SAYING CONGRATULATIONS THE IRS HAS ACCEPTED YOUR RETURN.THAT WAS 5 DAYS AGO , I AM EXPECTING A REFUND ,I DID EFILE .WHEN I GO TO IRS TRACKING MY REFUND THE TRACKER SAYS THAT I CANNOT TRACK MY EFILE UNTIL IRS ACCEPTS MY TAXES .THEY HAVE NO INFO ON MY TAXES AS THEY WERE NOT ACCEPTED.WHY DOES TURBO TAX SAY MY TAXES WERE ACCEPTED WHEN IRS SAYS THEY HAVE NOT ACCEPTED THEM OR I COULD DO EFILE TRACK MY REFUND TOOL. WHAT A NIGHTMARE ITS THIS SIMPLE ...TURBO TAX CLAIMS MY EFILE TAXES WERE ACCEPTED WHEN ITS NOT TRUE ..WHY WOULD TURBO TAX LEAD PEOPLE ON LIKE THAT
FIRST STOP SHOUTING !!!
Next, once you have successfully efiled and the IRS accepts your return for processing your return may not be reflected in the WMR? tool right away. Make sure you are entering in the SS# for the first person listed on the return, the correct filing status and the amount listed on the form 1040 line 35a.
Hey, the IRS lookup says that for a lot of people. It's very common. The lookup is not reliable. Be patient. It might take the IRS 6 months or more to send the refund. Nothing you or Turbo Tax can do to speed it up. You can try calling the IRS but they are overloaded and you probably won't get through.
