I got an email stating TurboTax is going to go ahead and charge me the $277 fee for “self-employment” tax form but I still haven’t even gotten my refund yet!
This is ridiculous. It is not my fault that the IRS is holding onto my tax refund and not issuing it to me. I have called their 1-800- assistance number twice asking then to assist me in getting my tax refund. They refuse to help me. They tell me to call the IRS and wait on hold for hours if you can even get through, which you can’t. I work all day and can’t stay on the phone all day waiting on the IRS.
As my tax service provider, I would think they would have the capability and willingness to assist your customers in getting their tax refunds. A couple of my friends used accountants to file their taxes and when they didn’t receive their tax refunds they were able to contact their accountants and their accountants were able to contact the IRS and get their issues resolved. But TurboTax won’t do that for me.

Yeah. They don't help. I finally got through to IRS and was told my issue was resolved and my return was supposed to be released Feb 4, and only the person who was assigned my case can release it. Well it will be 90 days on the 21 of April since my return was accepted and still no refund. Turbo tax says they can't do anything once the return leaves their hands.. who knows if the person will ever release it.
The IRS does not give information to TurboTax or any other tax service. TurboTax produces a tax return not a tax refund. That is up to the IRS.
You were told in the disclosure that TurboTax will draft your bank account for fees if the IRS doesn’t issue the return by a certain time. If you call them they’ll defer the withdrawl.
I am experiencing the same thing. Needless to say, TurboTax is about to lose a slew of customers, myself included. I never agreed to them withdrawing money from my bank account, I agreed to having them remove the funds from my refund. Which I also still have not received. This service is just joke at this point. The “support” comments all say the same, unhelpful jargon. Waste of time.
"I never agreed..." But, yes, you did agree to that when you chose to have your fees deducted from your federal refund. Avoid this problem next time by paying upfront before you e-file.
Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive? Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account. TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.
TURBOTAX SAYS:
How do you justify debiting my account?
The provision is spelled out in the Pay With My Refund Agreement, which you agreed to when you opted to pay with your refund.
In addition, by clicking the "I Agree" button below, you electronically sign and authorize Intuit (through its third party processor) to debit the TurboTax Fees, Additional Products and Services Purchased and any applicable sales tax from your bank account number identified in the Agreement below, in the event that you do not receive a tax refund that is sufficient to pay for them.
How can I see my TurboTax fees?
