TurboTax uses an estimate based on averages.

No one can know exactly when your funds will be deposited.  There are too many variables including differences in bank processing times once the IRS sends the funds.

The IRS says 9 out of 10 filers who efile and choose direct deposit will get their refunds within 21 days.  You can monitor it with the IRS tool mentioned below.  Some returns take longer for additional processing due to specific items in the return.  Some are pulled at random for more thorough investigation.

Also, if you have EIC (earned income credit, aka EITC) or ACTC (additional child tax credit), the IRS will not start releasing those refunds until February 15.  That means people with those types of credits may not start receiving their refunds until around February 27.

NOTE:  If you chose to pay any TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, that is another link in the chain, since your funds go first from the IRS to an intermediary bank where the fees are subtracted.  Then that intermediary bank sends the rest of the funds to your bank in a second direct deposit.

You can monitor the status of your Federal refund at this IRS page below.  If you efiled, wait 24 hours after acceptance before trying this tool, or it may not find it.

Turbo tax has not given me my refund. I've messaged with live associates, talk to people on live chats, was able to speak to one person on the phone. Its been over a month and the IRS told me they've already released the refund to turbo tax so they have no control. I am frustrated because of course the automotive systems are obviously not useful for special cases. When I asked a live web associate to give me a phone number so I can speak to a live associate, guess what number they gave me!!! A **bleep**ing automated system!!! That does not transfer you to an operator!!  This is people's money !!!

This is mainly a user community forum, but we may be able to suggest some things to try.  However, there is not much info in the above.

You didn't say anything about how you chose to get your refund, but there's a bit of a clue above when you said "the IRS told me they've already released the refund to turbotax".    So if TurboTax is somehow involved in your refund chain, then there are a couple of possibilities.

How did you originally choose to get your refund?  Did you choose for it to go as a direct deposit to your bank account, or to direct deposit to the Turbo Prepaid Visa Card, or other debit card?

If you used a paid edition, did you choose to pay any TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund?  If so, the IRS sends your funds first to a temporary account at an intermediary bank, where the fees are subtracted.  Then that intermediary bank sends the rest of your funds to your bank account (or card) in a second direct deposit.   If that second direct deposit fails for any reason, your bank or card would send it back to the intermediary bank, who would issue you a check in the mail.  If you used that method to pay fees, we can tell you how to log in to your temporary account at the intermediary company (SBTPG) to check on your Federal refund.    If you did not use that method to pay any fees, then this paragraph doesn't apply to you.
