I filed for a refund on March 3. On March 12 my refund was deposited into my checking account, but it was $1000 SHORT. WHY?

Turbo Tax 2018 said that I should get a certain amount for my refund. The IRS sent me $1,000. less.

TurboTax does not have access to IRS refund adjustment information.

However, you can expect a letter explaining the $1,000 difference from the IRS within 30 days or so.

In the below link, you can see some of the more common reasons for a downward adjustment in a refund in addition to math and data entry errors.

Why is my federal refund less than I expected?

This has happened to us for many years. We never received a letter. I thought it was related to my husband child support but there is no way it could be this year, yet it happened again. Did you ever receive  letter or find out what it was from?

Received no letter, explanation or anything.  It is just strange that it is exactly $1,000 short of the amount to be refunded. I am not sure what I do now?  Who do I call?
