I received an unexpected partial refund check from the Treasury after submitting my 2015 Federal payment for taxes owed. How do I determine why/what I overpaid?

TurboTax indicated I owed $9000+.

E-filed and had the payment taken directly from bank account.

Today received a check for $111 from the Treasury.

There was no explanation with the check.

How do I determine the error?

They will send a letter explaining the difference.  It might be that you entered the wrong amount of withholding on one of your entries.

Could you have made a data entry error?  Or forgotten to claim estimated taxes paid?
