The Social Security Administration (SSA) does not provide an EIN on their SSA-1099 form, and TurboTax does not ask for one. You can use the steps below to include this on an amended return after you have followed the instructions for amending  your return.  Once you enter the income from your document, some or none of your social security benefits may be taxable. The amount of the your income plus half of your social security will determine if you are over the threshold ($25,000 for single filing status, $32,000 for married filing jointly or $0 for married filing separate).

You can go directly to the area to enter your information.

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account (online or desktop)
  2. Use the search box in the upper right
  3. Search for ssa1099
  4. Jump to ssa1099 (see image attached)
  5. Continue to make the proper entries
