Why would the IRS send a letter requesting I send them a copy of my W2?

The issue could be simple. Perhaps your employer did not send a copy of your W-2 to the IRS, or perhaps there was a typo in the IRS's copy of the W-2 or in the TurboTax W-2. Just respond to the letter as is, and let the IRS follow up if need be.
