If there is something wrong with your return how long does it take for the IRS to contact your tax preparer about and issue

The IRS will notify you directly via the US Mail if there is something wrong with your return. The IRS will never try to contact you by phone or e-mail for information. So if you believe there is something wrong with your return and its been more then 21 days since your return was accepted by the IRS you can call the IRS  to see if there is an issue with your return and what can be done to correct it sooner.

If you ever receive a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS or an e-mail of the same asking for information never give any personal details as its an attempted to get personal information from you in an attempt to obtain your personal identity.
