What does it mean when IRS site still says processing and it still says accepted on here? Been 24 days now.? I did have dependents and earned income.? Anyone else??

What does it mean when IRS site still says processing and it still says accepted on here? Been 24 days now.? I did have dependents and earned income.? Anyone else??

That is the general status for most filers at this time.

Some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons, including when a return:

  •     Includes errors
  •     Is incomplete
  •     Is affected by identity theft or fraud
  •     Includes a claim filed for an Earned Income Tax Credit or an Additional Child Tax Credit.
  •     Includes a Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which could take up to 14 weeks to process
  •     Needs further review in general


Also, the IRS will hold refunds for EITC and ACTC-related tax returns. The refunds for these Returns cannot be processed by the IRS until Feb. 15th. Even after this date it will take a few day for the IRS to process. Those refunds won't be disbursed until February, 27th.
