I forgot to enter the amounts from my form SSA-1099 onto my form 1040.

In filling out form 1040x, where do enter the SSA-1099 amounts?

Do I enter ONLY those amounts or do I have to enter any other amounts?

Enter your SSA-1099 exactly as it appears. form 1040x is not yet available in TurboTax.

All SSA-1099 forms get entered in the same place:

    1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax if it's not already open.
    2. In TurboTax, search for the term social security benefits and then select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.

    3. On the Social Security Benefits screen, answer Yes and select Continue.
    4. Check the first box, then enter the amounts from your form(s) where indicated.
      • If you received multiple SSA-1099s, add up the amounts for each box and enter them together.
      • Do not include SSA-1099s for dependents. Those should be reported on the dependent's return, but only if they are required to file a return (this is uncommon).
    5. Select Continue and follow the onscreen instructions

When will 1040x be available on TurboTax on-line?

Today is March 19th but I'm still getting: "It looks like your federal return can't be amended right now.  You're going to have to wait until the tax form for amending a return (Form 1040X) is ready for processing. Form 1040X will be ready on 03/25/2021".

The IRS hasn't yet finalized the amended return (1040X) for 2020.  We expect it to be available in TurboTax the end of March.
